Comment on What Can An App Incubator Really Do For Your Startup? by Mike Sims https://www.thinklions.com/blog/what-can-an-app-incubator-really-do-for-your-startup/#comment-16 Mon, 11 Jun 2018 04:41:31 +0000 https://www.thinklions.com/blog/?p=541#comment-16 In reply to Poma.

Hey Poma, don’t focus on the limitations – instead, figure out what you CAN do. What you absolutely can do is get out there and prove your concept – survey your target market, set up a pre-registration website and drive users to it with a compelling video, create a demo or prototype, participate in a hackathon (and pitch your idea to the attending developers), and etc. Adopt an agile process, launching an extremely minimal viable product, and building it over time through several iterations. Lastly, never let your obstacles get the best of you – you’re an entrepreneur, it’s your job to solve problems. You will face many MANY obstacles throughout your app startup journey, but overcoming those obstacles is what will define your success in the long run! Best of luck!

Hey Farhaad, the key to marketing is making sure that the basics are established (like ASO, associated website, SEO, etc.), and then testing paid channels slowly; analyzing the data to see where more investment should be made. You’d be surprised at how much can be accomplished even with just a very small budget. Build your startup lean, and if you’re unsure of how to do so, refer to the book “The Lean Startup” by Eric Ries.

It is an app with some other incentives for new shops. There has been another app like this which are doing really good but they are based in the US. Our app offers alot more to our clients then them and could be really successful in pulling in revenue. We are shortage of funds as we are currently just starting up, going out to shops wouldn’t be hard but what would be hard is reaching out to consumers without the necessary funds (Advertisments).

I know this to be a fact. the problem is that I can’t find anyone that wants to work on it with me. I don’t have a fund to hire people to help me with it. I tried to ask people to work on a pay later basis, but nobody is interested in that. on top of that, when i initially mentioned this idea of mine to an app developer, he took it as raw as that was, and made an app out of that, that is now suffering because half the content is not there. So I know that with the right people, I can make this happen. Problem is, I don’t know what to do from here on. Any advice?

Comment on Do You Have What It Takes To Be a Successful App Entrepreneur? by Mike Sims https://www.thinklions.com/blog/do-you-have-what-it-takes-to-be-a-successful-app-entrepreneur/#comment-6 Tue, 22 May 2018 21:37:47 +0000 http://blog.thinklions.com/?p=377#comment-6 In reply to Praveenkumar.

Hello there! Feel free to shoot me an e-mail (mike.sims@thinklions.com) and I can definitely give you my feedback. However, what should be known (which entrepreneurs don’t often like to hear this) is that an idea on it’s own means very little. Many many “great app ideas” never get developed — great execution means everything. If you believe your app idea is amazing, test & validate it!

Thank you! I’ve had an app idea that I think is AWESOME but penning the idea and turning it into an actual business plan is proving difficult. I’m also trying to get the idea across to a developer so that a mock-up can be made, all the while not knowing if it is a viable business idea and then wondering what I am actually selling given I’m not the developer. Aargh! Anyway, my “leave a comment” is that this was a great read. Thank you!
Alissa
